The bear in our area come in a wide variety of colors including black, chocolate, cinnamon, red, and even blonde. Around 70% of the bear taken each year are of a color phase other than your typical black color. Bear populations are high and trophy quality is excellent.
We scout the area, then strategically place baits well in advance of your hunt. Baits and attracter scents are then frequently restocked prior to your hunt. This gives bears time to establish a regular feeding pattern before your arrival. We try to maintain multiple active bait sites per hunter. We provide ladder tree stands with comfortable seats or ground blinds if you prefer.
We are now able to harvest wolves during our bear hunts. With the recent changes by the Idaho Department of Fish and Game, wolf and bear seasons now overlapped. We occasionally have wolves come into bear baits or see them on the side hills allowing you the opportunity to incidentally harvest a wolf at no extra cost other than a $31.75 wolf tag. If you harvest a Bear early in your hunt and would like to upgrade and concentrate on a wolf, arrangements may be made depending on available time and guides. This gives you the incredible opportunity to hunt two of North America's largest predators at the same time.

Allreds Adventures uses Karelian Bear Dogs if needed to blood trail your bear after it is shot. Bear are extremely hard to knock down and often go quite a ways from the bait site. These amazing hunting dogs greatly increase our ability to recover wounded and downed animals.
Idaho has very liberal hunting seasons and weapon restrictions. Bears can be hunted both spring or fall with rifle, bow, muzzleloader, or hand gun. License and tags are sold over the counter and we will assist you in purchasing them. Most hunters prefer to hunt bear in the spring, but to accommodate our clients' schedules we do offer fall hunts also. Remember that a fall Bear is going to have a nice even coat and with his winter fat build up weigh a lot more.
Bear hunts are more relaxed and controlled than other big game hunts. With the milder weather conditions and casual atmosphere this makes them a great hunting option for couples, families, or first time hunters.

The state of Idaho encourages youth hunting for both resident and non-resident hunters. The Idaho Fish and Game has a junior mentor program with greatly reduced license and tag fees. Allreds Adventures also encourages families with young hunters and offers a 25% discount for juniors ages 10 to 17 the first time they hunt bear with us and are booked with an adult hunter.
After your bear is harvested, your guide will skin and prepare the hide for your taxidermist. If you don't already have a good taxidermist that is familiar with mounting bears, there are several in our area and would be happy to recommend one.
Spring bear season runs April 15th through June 30th, but we choose to only conduct our hunts during prime time to assure the highest rate of success. Because we hunt higher elevations, mid-May through the end of June is the best time to hunt with us. This time period the bears are more active on the baits and this is peak of the rut.
Our area is managed both by the Idaho Department of Fish and Game and Allreds Adventures as a trophy quality single bear unit. This allows us to sustain a healthy population of big mature boars within our hunting area.
Bear hunts are based out of the Garden Valley, Idaho area and are a full-service hunt with no hidden cost or trophy fees. Not included in the hunt cost are hunting license, tag, 6% Idaho sales tax on base price, and gratuities.
